Nowadays, Notebook and Netbook may not comes with CD/DVD rom for you to read your disc. This may lead to problem when you need to install software from these disc. But you can easily find FREE solution to this. Below are the steps I uses.

  1. Create image of the CD/DVD, commonly know as ISO image (I am using this to backup most of my CDs and DVDs disc to your harddisk just in case the disc gets damage, alternatively, you can just keep the physical disc one side, and just read from the image from a single click)
Software: LC ISO Creator - small and portable
  2. Copy the ISO image to your thumbdrive and plug in to your CD/DVD rom-less PC.
  3. Install software to "insert" the image and read it as if it is from a CD/DVD rom
    Software: Virtual Clone Drive
  4. After the installation, right-click on the ISO image to "Mount" and insert the virtual CD/DVD. This will run the CD/DVD as if it is running from a real CD/DVD rom. You can go into File Explorer to read the file in the Virtual CD/DVD drive as well.
  5. To eject, right-click on the CD/DVD drive to "Unmount" the image.
